Santa Claus is Comin' to....the Runway?

Well, not exactly. I doubt we will be seeing Santa walking the catwalk anytime soon, or a model dressed in a Santa suit for that matter. BUT are you noticing all of the hints of the holiday season shining through a lot of the pieces in the winter 2007-2008 collections? I sure am! Take Balenciaga for instance, amazing! The models were all dressed so warmly, with scarves, fur-lined hoods, or a heavy winter jacket! Not only their clothing, but their makeup was perfect, and all of their eyes were shadowed with frosty white. All of the models looked as though they could walk right off the runway, and into a big snowball fight!!!... well a very couture snowball fight that is. There were certain pieces from the Lanvin collection, and the Vivienne Westwood collection that were like wearable, gifts wrapped in shiny paper! Gorgeous, gorgeous, and extremely festive! There are obvious themes of the holiday popping up everywhere on the runway. So get on your winter gear and get out in that snow.. fashionably of course ;)
xoxo- Happy Holidays, everyone!

Get Inspired

New York City. It's my birthplace and the best city on earth. The feelings I get, while walking down 5th avenue around Christmas time, are unexplainable. It is such a warm feeling, and I really understand the world at that moment and all of its excitement. It is this city that I strive to belong to and feel comfortable wandering the streets alone. I love uptown, and downtown, and strolling Central Park after a day of shopping on the Upper East Side. I love taking the subway to SoHo with some friends, and feeling the energy of all the people around. I love the lights in the trees, and the uniqueness that every single person on the streets has. I promise you, I will live there someday. "Start spreading the news, I'm leaving today, I want to be a part of it.. New York!"

It is like a bible for anyone who is completely obsessed with fashion. I mean I won't deny that I read it way more often than anything else for that matter. It is a magazine that is known throughout the world, and the reason for so many successes in the fashion industry because it inspired.

Vivienne Westwood is simply brilliant. Her designs are exquisite. How does she manage to make such a ridiculous combination of fabrics look completely amazing? I, for one, would love to know. She is so inspiring in that she doesn't deny her belief that luxury is so important and she lives the life that her designs really say to the world. “You have a better life if you wear impressive clothes” –Vivienne Westwood

I love Marie Antoinette, the movie, and I was extremely inspired by the intensity of the fashion design. The way the women were so powerful and showed that through their clothing. I love, love, love the idea of Versailles and the luxury of it all. I find these classic looks to be FABULOUS.

Nature Walk

Flowers, Gardens, and Meadows, oh my! I have always been inspired through nature and the beauty of lying in a grassy meadow, staring up at a gorgeous-sunny day. Immediately, the movie Alice in Wonderland comes to mind. Remember at the beginning when Alice is lying among daisies in a garden, peacefully playing with her kitten (Until of course the rabbit came along, haha)? Fresh florals and a small pond, wow these things mean so much to me. I can just imagine wearing a white-linen dress, dancing around in a garden with some friends. We would have flowers in our hair, and small grass-stains decorating our dresses. Nature is so important in fashion, and so many designers translate these elements into their pieces. It is important to look at one of these pieces and make sure that it inspires you to want to be in nature. You need a place to get away from the material world and let your personal style be influenced not only by others, but also inspired by the natural world.

Paris, France? Très chic!

I am not French, I do not speak French, yet there is something so alluring and so enthralling about Paris. I have been to Paris three times. I want to be a part of Paris, and I want to feel what it is like to really belong. From movies, to pictures, to reading about Paris and all of its charms in high-fashion magazines, it has become so inspiring to me. The most amazing thing to me about Paris is its significance in the world of fashion. It seems to me that Paris sets a standard for fashion, the elegance and the romance that seems to be translated through the style of Parisians. From what I have seen and read, Paris seems to be the fashion capital of the world and I would not argue with that opinion. It is, in my opinion, the most inspiring way of life and everything about the city is beautiful. The people, and the uniqueness of everything in Paris is so riveting to me, and I have such an interest in experiencing this life someday. But for now, I will keep letting the world of Paris that I can see, to inspire me through my style. "Do i have that je ne sais quoi?"
